Masks – Made from 2016-2017
These masks are made for Temenos, a series of events that engages communities through experimental movement and the cultivation of safe physical and psychological spaces. Participants are given masks as a ritual object to help wearers feel safe, anonymous, and playful. Visually and symbolically the group agrees to move away from their day-to-day identities and commonly accepted social norms. The intention behind Temenos is to allow participants to experience dance as an internal sensory exploration of movement. There is neither choreography nor expectation of performance. The emphasis is not on watching, but on feeling.
